Chris Gardner (Will Smith) is a family man who faces serious financial problems. Despite all attempts to keep the family together, Linda (Thandie Newton), his wife, decides to leave. Chris is now a single parent and need to take care of Christopher (Jaden Smith), his son only 5 years. He attempts to use his ability as a salesman to get a better job, that gives you a more worthy salary. Chris Gets a job as an intern in an important stock broker, but receives no salary for his services. Their hope is that by the end of the internship program, he is hired and so has a promising future in the company. However her financial problems cannot wait for that to happen, which causes are evicted. Chris and Christopher are sleeping in shelters, train stations, bathrooms and wherever you get a refuge at night, keeping the hope that better days will come.
